The Process

Copyright Disclaimer

This is not legal advice! This is for educational purposes only.

Let's address the elephant in the room: If we stream original music over the internet, wouldn't anyone be able to steal it?

It's pretty unlikely. Here's the thing... The moment you write and/or record a piece of music you create a musical copyright for it. This includes streaming to Twitch. Makes sense, right? It's video proof that you're the creator, along with a nifty date and timestamp (and witnesses too!).

Keep documentation and hang on to all versions of your song. If you find somebody using your music without consent this becomes evidence to protect yourself. You can force the thief to cease using it, file charges, and so on.

Should you want additional copyright evidence, you can register your work with the U.S. Copyright Office here.

If you use samples in your work it can get a little messier copyright-wise. Based on how long of a sample you're using and/or the people the copyright belongs to, you may need to pay a royalty. Please do your research and if all else fails... Just ask! Many fellow creators are cool with you sampling their work so long as they receive appropriate credit.

Set-up

You will need to create your references and upload said tracks for me to download.

  • Create a bounce or stems of your music, which we'll call "references".

    • These should line up with the beginning of your session and include the BPM (beats per minute) in the file name. This helps me line the session up correctly and will later help line up what I send back!

    • A bounce is an as-is mix of your session. A bounce without drums is required for the session, but you may include another bounce with desired drums as well.

    • Stems are bounces of the individual elements of your mix. For example, your stems could include guitar, piano, bass, desired drums, etc. Each stem needs to line up with the BPM as well!

    • If your music was recorded or produced by somebody else you will need to contact them and have your references ready before booking a session.

      • Please communicate that you need these references lined up with the BPM too!

  • Upload your tracks to a file-sharing service: Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer.

    • I highly recommend implementing some sort of folder structure. Anything helps!

Example folder structure: (Google Drive)
  • You can add sheet music for your track with your references.

  • In Google Drive, click share and give correct permissions for me to be able to access your files! (hello@wisequack.xyz)

  • Copy the link because you will need it during booking!

Booking Your Session

Next we'll use my website store to book your session and customize your experience.

  • First you will need to fill out my Google Form. This is so I have all the information I need for a smooth session.

    • At the end of the form it asks for a unique identifier. Copy this because you'll need it during checkout.

    • After the form is submitted, head to my booking page and book, "Twitch Drum Tracking Session."

    • Include your unique identifier and select a time.

    • My session times are on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10a - 1p and 2p - 5p PST.

    • Feel free to reach out for more collaboration opportunities! I can record Video ISO's, team up on stream, and so on.

  • I recommend adding this session to your calendar so you don't forget!

  • If a scheduling conflict arises we can reschedule your session if I'm notified at least 48 hours before your session time. If not or you don't show, I will do my best to fly solo in creating tracks that best fit your music!

Show-time

We're all set! Let's show up to the session and get ready to hang out and collaborate. I will have your session pre-loaded and drum kit set-up so we can dive right in! I will also do my homework beforehand by listening to the session and coming up with ideas and/or absorbing your ideas.

  • Install the necessary platform program in advance. (Discord, Twitch, Google Meet, etc.)

  • Log in to your chosen platform at least 10 minutes before your session time.

  • You will be messaged and given appropriate links to join our session.

  • I encourage you to interact with stream chat whenever appropriate!

  • Please reserve voice chat for discussing session ideas and use text chat for interacting with stream viewers.

  • If you're satisfied with the tracks early, you can choose to drop out and/or hang out for the remainder of the time.

Post-Session Delivery

After our drum tracking session, I will compile, edit, mix, and send them to you!

I should have your tracks sent to your email within 48 hours of the end of our session! Please reach out and remind me if you haven't received them within that time period.

Please download your tracks promptly, too! They will remain in my Google Drive for 7 days before being deleted.

You're welcome to use my stream and ISO videos in creating content. Please give me credit and help spread the word!
